Business Fire Safety Advisor Apprenticeship (Level 3)

A Business Fire Safety Advisor works with businesses to help them keep their premises safe from fire by offering advice and education to reduce risk.  People in this role also recognise and take appropriate steps when enforcement action may be required.  The role contributes to the aims of saving life, preventing injury, enhancing business continuity and protecting premises.

What will I do in this job role?

  • Work as part of the Fire Protection Team; 
  • Undertake Fire Safety Audits;
  • Contribute to a safer community; 
  • Provide advice and Information on Business Fire Safety; and 
  • Developing internal/external local partnerships with key stakeholders.

Operational Firefighter Apprenticeship (Level 3)

As an apprentice firefighter with Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS), you will respond to a wide range of incidents. You will also take part in community safety and fire protection activities, to help keep our local residents and businesses safe in the diverse communities we serve.

What will I do in this job role? 

Work as part of a highly respected team; 

  • Learn the skills of a professional firefighter; 
  • Understand the importance of making communities safer through undertaking proactive community safety activities; and 
  • Learn life saving skills through First Aid and 
  • Heartstart

What are the entry requirements for this apprenticeship? 

For the Level 3 Firefighter Apprenticeship, candidates must have at least 5 GCSE grade A* to C / 4 or above (or equivalent) including Maths and English. 

In addition we are looking for candidates who have: 

  • A 'can do' attitude; 
  • A keen interest in Fire and Rescue Services; 
  • A willingness to learn; 
  • The ability to communicate effectively with a range of people; 
  • The ability to work in a team environment; and 
  • The ability to achieve operational physical fitness. 

Firefighters often work under a shift based system; so an apprentice must be prepared to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays as required. Applicants applying for this apprenticeship need to be 18 years or over before the start date
